How to Choose Your Best Workout Space: 3 questions to ask yourself when determining your best workout place

As promised in my last video, today I’m going to walk you through the three questions you should ask yourself for determining your best workout place. If you did not watch the last video I suggest you go back and watch it so you don’t miss all the good information.

When I first decided that I wanted to start losing weight, I had many excuses for not starting. “ I don’t know how,” “ it takes too much work,” and “I don’t have a gym membership” were just a few. In the last video I asked you to share your excuses. I have received many excuses from you, many of which I have used myself. This is why in today’s video I’m going to share one of the best ways to eliminate them.

I finally came to the realization that there had to be an easier way, one that didn’t allow room for excuses. The only way I was going to be able to do this was by convincing myself that I could. That meant that I had to change my attitude about the gym from “you have to have a gym to lose weight” to “going to the gym is not the only way you can lose weight.”

I began to implement a weight-loss strategy for myself that did not involve going to the gym. The first, and foremost, question I asked myself was “Where can I work out?”

I feel that this was such a huge turning point for me that I want to share my strategy for answering this question with you.

The first question you need to ask yourself, to determine your best workout place is: “Where do I feel the most comfortable?”

This could be anywhere, your living room, your bedroom, outdoors in your yard, on your porch, the woods, in the pool, or even your church. These are just a few ideas to get you thinking.

There is a second part to this question. “What about this area makes you feel comfortable?”

Here’s how I answered this question for myself – The outdoors, in nature, is the most comfortable for me. Why? Growing up I always loved being outside, especially near trees. I had so much fun playing and feeling the weather on my skin. As I got older and moved out on my own, being outside always made, and still makes me, feel like a kid again. On an even deeper level for me, I feel connected, grounded, and at peace when I’m outside. Being outdoors is where I feel the most comfortable.

The second question I asked myself, and you need to ask yourself, was, “Is the room enough for me to exercise and stretch out my whole body?”

The best way I found to figure this out is by using these three steps:

  1. Stand nice and tall, stretch your hands as high as they will go and jump as high as you can. This will make sure there’s enough height.
  2. Stretch your arms as far out to the side as you can reach and spin in a circle. This’ll make sure you have enough room around you.
  3. Lie down on the floor and stretch your arms and legs out as far as they will go (imagine you are a star). Then swing your arms above your head (like you’re making a snow angel). This will ensure you have enough room on the floor.

If you do not have anything with your hands and feet while following steps then you’re golden and good to go.

If, while you are completing the steps, your hand or foot hit something do not jump to the conclusion that you cannot work out there.

Instead, take a moment to look around and see if it is something you can fix by rearranging or moving something just a few inches or feet. Do so, if you can. Now, if you are unable to have enough space in this area, then go back to question one and think about another place.

The third and final question should be easy enough to answer one way or the other. If you have to do too much thinking, you may want to go back to question one.

The final question you need to ask yourself is “Am I able to easily get to this area on a regular and frequent basis?”

You need to be able to keep a regular workout schedule for the best results. Having a workout space that you can easily get to will help you keep a regular schedule.

Again, so you have them, the three questions you need to ask yourself to determine your best workout space are as follows:

  1. Where do I feel the most comfortable? Including, what about this place makes me feel the most comfortable?
  2. Is there room enough for me to exercise and stretch out my whole body?
  3. Am I easily able to get to this place on a regular and frequent basis?

Then, join me in the next video where I will help you discover the types of exercises you can do to lose weight without going to the gym.

Until the next video think about where you are the most comfortable and share those places in the comments section below.

You may even help someone else discover their place by leaving your comment.
